HP Pavilion dv7-6B55DX – Plenty of screen real estate
HP Pavilion dv7-6B55DX – Plenty of screen real estate
There is plenty on the HP Pavilion dv7-6B55DX to like about. This isn’t extraordinary laptop by any means but it feels good because I was kinda bored with the cheap looking, ugly laptops at this price. The dv7 feels and looks much better than what the price tag says. The component mix on the inside is quite good; you get Core i5 second generation processor along with a lot of memory and this will make every day tasks run smoothly. The battery life is long and this is something that you don’t need or expect in desktop replacement laptop. This machine also has all the connections and ports along with some extras like WiMax support and wireless display. Biggest shortcoming on the HP Pavilion dv7-6B55DX is the integrated graphics card used. It isn’t powerful for handling  [...]

HP Pavilion dm1z – New Netbook In The Market
HP Pavilion dm1z – New Netbook In The Market
For most of the notebook manufacturers in the market, Netbooks is a completely vanished breed of laptops, but there still are some that believes that there is some life still left in that segment, and hence they haven’t stopped manufacturing them yet. HP is one such laptop makers and we would love to tell the folks at HP that the Netbooks have died way long ago and tablets are the order for the day in current market. The HP Pavilion dm1z is the fresh offering from HP and it looks as if it was developed just because they have to manufacture something. The Pavilion dm1z is an immensely modest and unassuming system; as a matter of fact you can say that it’s a rather bland system in terms of looks. The HP Pavilion dm1z was not intended to look good at the first place and  [...]

HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 – A Solid Improvement From HP
HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 – A Solid Improvement From HP
In general the full sized midrange laptops are more like the standard-sized cars in the auto world, and most of the times there isn’t anything serious to talk about them. Our today’s laptop for review the HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 fits just perfectly into that category. The Pavilion dv6t-6000 is a 15.6-inch laptop and we have to say that it’s an immensely configurable model and is positioned at the heart of the mainstream laptop line of HP, and is pretty much like the Dell Inspiron 15R. The HP Pavilion dv6t is marketed as "high- performance" laptop by HP, but the configuration for the system puts this laptop into the mainstream category with: a processor range from 2nd generation Core i3 to the dual-core Core i7; an elective 1080p display, midrange AMD graphics choices  [...]

HP Pavilion dm1z – Power Efficient Notebook
HP Pavilion dm1z – Power Efficient Notebook
HP Pavilion dm1z is next step in notebook evolution, as it provides nearly mainstream performance, capable graphics and excellent battery life. It also offers a reasonably priced AMD E-350 processor, which is battery efficient and fast, fast 7200 rpm hard disk driver, full size keyboard, 7 hours of battery life and expandable memory to 8GB. It is the first laptop to provide the power efficient Fusion platform of AMD, combining basic graphics, great battery life and decent performance for less than $500. Netbooks are being replaced by new systems, which provide a slight more performance for lesser money, and one of the examples is Pavilion dm1z with new Fusion platform of AMD. The HP Pavilion dm1z is great notebook designed for specific tasks including  [...]

HP Pavilion g6-1a69us – Poor battery life
HP Pavilion g6-1a69us – Poor battery life
HP’s G series of non-Pavilion laptops aren’t really good looking but they are still good for decent bargain hunters who are looking at low priced laptops. I got the HP G62 for review last year; it was priced at $500 with Intel Pentium T4500 processor which was an entry level chip. This laptop has been upgraded to Pavilion brand for 2011 and there is also faster Intel Core i3 processor. With all this, you surely won’t mind a small bump in the price. HP Pavilion g6-1a69us will put you back by $549 but there are a few retailers selling it for $100 more. My one complaint about the HP Pavilion g6-1a69us is that the included Core i3 processor isn’t the latest but is a dated version of it. The battery life won’t be really good (it is terrible) and you won’t get Intel’s onboard graphics  [...]

HP HDX18 – A desktop replacement laptop
HP HDX18 – A desktop replacement laptop
HP HDX18 is a multimedia desktop replacement laptop and it is made for people who like playing a lot of games. My test model had a lot of high end hardware. It is not the fastest laptop ever but the performance is quite impressive and you can play all the recent games here in full HD resolution of 1,920x1,080 pixels. HP HDX18 has a good collection of ports as well, you get HDMI, eSATA, four ports of USB 2.0, four pin FireWire port, multi-format flash card reader and PC Express card slot. There is also a Blu-ray optical drive to take full advantage of the full HD screen. You can also plug in coaxial cable tuner for watching TV on the screen. All this combined along with neat exterior and flash finish makes this a good looking entertainer. You can carry it from one room to  [...]

HP Compaq 6830s – Low battery life
HP Compaq 6830s – Low battery life
HP Compaq 6830s is a huge desktop replacement laptop having a screen size of 17 inches. This system weighs around three kilograms and hence I won’t recommend it if you like carrying a laptop in your backpack along with you while traveling. During my tests, there was a problem in Blu-ray playback and the system couldn’t play it as well as it is supposed to be. Occasionally it froze and the problems were consistently seen even after I updated all the software for it. HP Compaq 6830s comes with an eight cell lithium ion battery and I think such big battery is really needed in a large laptop like this. The screen is big and the processor too is really fast. A lot of heat blasts through the vents of the system and this shows how much power this thing needs. Don’t put this  [...]

Compaq Presario c700 – Great Budget Buy
The all new C700 is available with the retail stores as well as on-line from HP.com. The notebook has got great prominence among the budget customers in market, and we would put the system alongside Dell's Vostro 1000 but with a budget Intel Processor. Technical Specifications: Specifications: Dimensions: 14.1 x 10.11 x 1.29/1.58" (max H) (L x W x H) Weight: 6.4 lbs Display: Widescreen Display measuring 15.4" WXGA High-Definition HP  [...]

HP Envy 17 – Impressive Hardware Set
HP Envy 17 – Impressive Hardware Set
In the modern market where the truly upscale laptops are almost on the verge of extinction, seeing a well-built laptop with minimum compromises is always pleasure and the all new HP Envy 17 that we are talking about here is one such laptop. In general we always have liked the Envy line, and the two most-advanced models the Envy 14 (14-inch) and this Envy 17 (17-inch), manage to outdo yesteryears original 13 and 15-inch editions with their more affordable prices. The Envy 17 is a feature packed system that has a Blu-ray drive, both DisplayPort and HDMI outputs, and a USB 3.0 port (even though not many of the current hardware can make use of it). Aesthetically speaking, the slim HP Envy 17 is one of the laptops which looks and feels a real substitute to Apple's 17-inch MacBook Pro. What makes  [...]

HP Envy 14 – Updated Envy
HP Envy 14 – Updated Envy
The HP Envy 14 belongs to the high end Envy line of laptops by HP. In the mid-price laptop market where most of the laptops that you see are nothing more than plastic boxes, the Envy line of laptops are the silver lining. The system has a solidly constructed (but comparatively too heavier) magnesium and aluminum chassis and a proficient set of components. We liked the original 13 and 15 inch variants of the Envy, but most of them were priced out of reach. The all new 14-inch Envy 14 (its always nice to have logical names of the product) brings discrete graphics to previous year’s 13-inch Envy 13, at the same time drops the starting price of the system by around one third to $999. This gets you an Intel Core i3 CPU, but if you want to go for the more powerful Core i5, then its price will  [...]
